How to get to Stone

By Road to Stone
From the South: Take the M6 (motorway)
northbound, leave at junction 14 (Stafford/Eccleshall), and take
A34 North (signposted for Stone). Stone is approximately 10 miles
from the motorway exit.
From the North: Take the M6 (motorway)
southbound, leave at junction 15 (Stoke-on-Trent), and take A34
South (signposted for Stone). Stone is approximately 12 miles from
the motorway exit.
By
Rail to Stone
The railway station is on the main line,
but express trains do not stop at Stone. Travellers should travel
either to Stoke-on-Trent or to Stafford, and proceed from there
either by local train, bus, or taxi.

Stone is on the Trent and Mersey Canal.

By Air to Stone
From Manchester
Manchester is approximately 35 miles North
of Stone. Rail and road communication is good.
The airport (0161 489 3000) is 16 kms (10
miles) from the city of Manchester
By rail from Manchester Airport to Stone
A moving walkway links Terminal 1 with
the Rail Station. Direct services from the airport
station run to Manchester Piccadilly, London Euston and Birmingham.
The Manchester Piccadilly service has six
trains each hour (four on Sundays) plus a limited overnight service.
Journey time to Piccadilly 20 minutes. Trains run from Piccadilly
to Stoke (journey time approximately 30 minutes), change to a local
train, bus or taxi for Stone.
By car from Manchester Airport to Stone
Manchester Airport is at junction 5 on
the M56 motorway. Local roads are the A5103 and the A34. Take A56
towards M6; take M6 South (towards Birmingham). Exit at junction
15 (Stoke-on-Trent, take A34 South (signposted). Journey time approx.
60 minutes.
Alternative route avoiding motorway. Take
A34 south to Stone.
By bus from Manchester Airport to Stone
The bus station is outside Terminal 1 International
Arrivals, with an additional pick-up point outside Terminal 2 Arrivals.
Take a bus from Manchester Airport to Hanley
bus station, Stoke-on-Trent; change to a bus, local train or taxi
for Stone
From Birmingham
Birmingham is approximately 35 miles South
of stone. Rail and road communication is good. Birmingham International
Airport (0121 767 5511) is on the A45 (Birmingham-Coventry) trunk
road off junction 6 of the A42.
By rail from Birmingham Airport to Stone
Birmingham International Airport is linked
by the Air Rail Link (Maglev – every 10 minutes, 2 minutes
journey time, free use), to Birmingham International railway station.
Take the train from to Birmingham International railway station
to Birmingham New Street station - 10 minute journey time (usually
every half hour though weekend restrictions may apply), from there
to Stafford – 35 minutes journey time (usually every hour
though weekend restrictions may apply), from Stafford to Stone by
rail (limited service), by bus (buses outside the station), or by
taxi.
By car from Birmingham Airport to Stone
Take the A42 to the M6, head north towards
Stafford. Exit at junction 14; follow signposts or Stone (approx.
10 miles). Journey time approximately 1 hour.
By bus from Birmingham Airport to Stone
Take the service bus to Digbeth Coach Station.
From there take a bus to Stafford, change at Stafford to a bus,
local train or taxi for Stone.
East Midlands Airport
By Rail from East Midlands Airport (01332
810 261) to Stone.
Due to its location the rail link to Stone
is best avoided
By Car from East Midlands Airport to
Stone.
Take A50, Signposted Stoke-on-Trent. Exit
at Blythe Bridge. At the roundabout take the A520 to Stone. Travelling
time approx. 60 minutes.
By Bus from East Midlands Airport to
Stone.
There is no connection from the airport
to Stone
