On The Canal -
The Canal Cruising Company hires out narrow boats for short breaks, weekly and
long holidays. The boats are easy to handle and come fully equipped and
ready to enjoy the local waterways. C/C is based in a 200 year old boatyard
which has three dry-dock facilities and able to carry out all narrowboat
repairs and maintenance. |

Canal Cruising Company Limited is the countrys oldest hire company on the canals and still operated by the Wyatt family after over 50 years. The picturesque boatyard has been in use for over 200 years. It provides the base for a canal cruising holiday and for narrowboat maintenance. Stone is the perfect starting point for your canal cruise with a choice of circular and non-circular routes through varied and picturesque landscapes (see below).
Narrowboats are for hire for short breaks from three days and for weekly holidays. The Canal Cruising Company offers a range of cruise options to suit your requirements; we have a range of narrowboats to accommodate from two to eight people. The boats are available from Saturday to Saturday.
Once on your narrowboat you can moor anywhere on the towpath side whether in the country or in urban areas. Inns alongside the canal often allow mooring adjacent to their premises for a short walk to their hospitality.
Stone has ample shopping facilities with two large supermarkets (one opposite the boatyard) and many smaller shops.
We give instruction to all newcomers on how to control the narrowboat, demonstrate locks, and give advice on mooring, navigation and safety.
Dogs and other pets are welcome, we ask you to bring suitable bedding for them. A small extra charge will be made for each pet.
Narrowboat Maintenance
The Canal Cruising Company undertakes maintenance of all kinds from painting to complete refurbishment of narrowboats.
Maintenance includes pumpouts, signwriting, painting, upholstery/furniture service, electrical work, and D.I.Y.
Our Stone facilities include dry docks, a full machine shop, engineers, plumber, joiner, fabricator, and Corgi Registered fitters.
We sell diesel and Calor gas.
Canal Cruising offers a Call-Out in a 20 miles radius of base.
